Port Talbot Motor Club Ltd extends a warm welcome to you in the City of Swansea for the Pro Art Signs Swansea Bay Rally, incorporating the Pro Art Signs Swansea Bay Clubmans Rally & the Pro Art Signs Swansea Bay Yokohama Challenge.
We are pleased to welcome Mr Darren Williams as co-sponsor to the event. His graphics & design company Pro Art the title sponsor of the Red Dragon Rally and he is keen to follow on from his association with that Port Talbot Motor Club event by providing additional support for the Swansea Bay Rally.
The event continues its long and successful association with the premier National Rally Championship in the country, and The City & County of Swansea, with the remarkable double achievement of maintaining those successes for 36 and 30 years respectively.
For 2009 the rally HQ stays at the Village Hotel on the SA1 complex.
The National event runs as the sixth round of the 2009 Pirelli Tyres MSA National Gravel Rally Championship as well as a qualifying round of the Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge UK.
The Swansea Bay Clubmans event is a round of RallyingUK.com MSA Welsh National Rally Championship, the ANWCC Forest Rally Championship, and the Munden’s Minibuses ASWMC Loose Surface Rally Championship.
The Swansea Bay Yokohama Challenge Rally is a round of the BMW Rear Wheel Drive Challenge, and the Peugeot 205 1.6 & 1.4 Challenges
Historically the event has always run long stages, but for 2009 the organisers have adopted a new format for the rally, introducing shorter stages that will run twice, a combination which proved popular with competitors on the Red Dragon Rally in 2008, and one that will provide a fresh approach and challenge for drivers and co-drivers on July 18th this year.
The National A & the National B event (Clubmans) will be seeded together with two wheel drive vehicles starting at the front of the field. This will give the 2WD cars a chance to compete as favourably as possible on what are recognised as some of the best forest roads in the country. Scrutineering is available on the Saturday keeping costs down even further to the competitor.

Lockton Motor Sports Road Traffic Act Insurance Scheme - Important
The club has applied to Lockton Motor Sports Road Traffic Act Insurance Scheme for a blanket cover note. This will provide competitors who need to use the scheme with the Third Party Cover necessary to meet RTA requirements on the road sections of the event. All new participants wishing to use the scheme must be able to comply with all points of Locktons Declaration :-
- Over 21 years of age & held a full driving license for at least 6 months.
- Not more than 1 Fault accident in the last 3 years.
- No Convictions other than a Maximum of 6 speeding points.
- No Physical or Mental disabilities.
- No other material facts to disclose.
If you comply with all of the above points, NO letter of acceptance will be required. Simply sign on the Insurance Scheme form at documentation on the Saturday morning.
If you are unable to comply with any of the above points, you will be required to complete the Declaration Form and send it off to Lockton for acceptance. Download HERE.
When complete, you must forward the form to Locktons directly. You must allow 14 days for Lockton to issue the letter of acceptance. Faxed copies are acceptable. Contact details below :-
